trip #1: Season opening on the Long Lake in Kawarthas: Thursday, May 30, 2013

This year season opening was done with Ivan on the Long Lake in Kawarthas. This route is ideal for an opening: no portages, straight paddling, good fishing, a few campsites to rest during the day. Even Irina likes this lake. It wasn't about speed - it was mainly about relaxation, fishing and checking the gear and ourselves after a long winter and cold spring. We covered 12 (6+6) km this day, spent 9 hrs on the water with short snack on the site #401 (see picture) and about 6 hrs driving there and back (departure from Caledon at 7:30, arriving at the lake 10:10, 10:50 - 19:40 on the water, 20:00-23:00 driving home. As always warms at Port Perry, fast look at the Burleigh Falls and Tiom Hortons in Port Perry on the way back. Nice beginning for the 2013 season.
